Maasai Mara

The World’s Greatest Wildlife Show

Overview

About Maasai Mara

The Maasai Mara National Reserve is Kenya’s most iconic wildlife destination and one of the greatest wilderness areas on Earth. Stretching across 1,500 sq km of open savanna in southwestern Kenya, it is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife year-round.

The reserve is most famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration one of the world’s most spectacular natural events  when over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross the Mara River in a dramatic, life-and-death spectacle between July and October.

Beyond the migration, the Mara consistently delivers exceptional game viewing. The Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino are reliably spotted throughout the year. Cheetah sightings are also common on the open plains.
